happy easter, part 1

happy easter from our little bunny hopkins, who can't seem to resist shoveling in all the yummy treats the easter bunny brought in her basket.

i found this quote on a friend's facebook post today.

happiness is not a matter of good fortune or wordly possessions. it's a mental attitude. it comes from appreciating what we have, instead of being miserable about what we don't have. it's so simple yet so difficult for the human mind to comprehend.

and i thought about how appropriate it is for the easter holiday. in church this morning, the priest who gave the homily reminded us that easter is a time to rejoice and start anew. to wear your easter bonnets and sunday best. to wish each other a happy easter, and not just a happy holiday. to celebrate all that is around us. to celebrate life.

today, i am celebrating our life just as it is. not what we could be doing, where we could be going, or what we could be buying. but our perfect little learning-to-live-in-the-moment life. harper took only a 20 minute nap in the car today, ate way too much sugar and was completely overstimulated with people and presents, but it was ok. we were with family whom we love and who love us. and she handled it beautifully. no crankiness, no crying. just smiles and laughs and "happy easter" wishes and kisses all around from her sweet little voice. i could learn a thing or 2 from her. and i guess that is what easter is all about to me. stepping back, realizing the meaning of renewal and simplicity and savoring in all that is good in our lives. and thanking the heavens above for all of it. especially our beautiful little bunny.

Happy Easter Em! Great thoughts; I like to think about Easter as a season of renewal, too. And Harper is a doll as always!
