happy birthday maximus!

yesterday was maximus' 6th birthday. our first official "baby." our first practice in parenthood and responsibility. the answer to my question of "when can we have a baby?" the first year we were married. a christmas gift from michael to me in 2004. the sweetest, most loyal, gentle giant of a dog. we couldn't ask for a better dog. he allowed harper to climb all over him, tug at his tail, check out his ears and never once showed any annoyance. and now, it's become a nightly ritual for harper to find maximus and give him a hug and kiss before she can lay down for sleep. so, each year, we celebrate his birthday with a personalized cake.
