smile!

while at the park with cousins ethan and griffin and aunt heather on tuesday, mommy was finally able to catch harper's big, gummy smile on film! she was cooing back and forth with me and i just kept snapping away. i'm so glad i am finally able to share the adorable grin that we get to see each day on our little girl!

second cousins

mommy's aunt kathy and cousin amy came to meet little harper on monday and had lunch with us and nana. harper got to meet her second cousin and amy's daughter, gianna. gianna was adorable and such a good girl with harper! it was so great spending the day with them.

weekend at grandma and grandpa's

harper, mommy and daddy spent the weekend at grandma and grandpa's house. we attended a wedding at oakland hills while the grandparents kept a close eye on our little girl saturday night, and then harper was able to meet several of her great aunts and uncles and cousins on sunday during the petrous family fantasy football draft. it was a weekend of lots of love for harper!

it takes a village

last wednesday, harper and mommy went to greenfield village and henry ford (for the chocolate exhibit-yum!) with nana, aunt heather, ethan and griffin. it was a beautiful day and harper enjoyed her first carousel ride. she made a bit of a fuss when the ride stopped!

first trip to the zoo

harper and mommy drove down with aunt heather, ethan and griffin to have lunch with daddy at work. after lunch, we visited the toledo zoo. it rained for the first hour and we dodged it by touring the indoor exhibits, then the sun finally came out and we got to enjoy the rest of the animals. the boys loved sitting on either side of harper in the car, attending to her every cry, as well as pushing her stroller around. they are such a big help and so sweet with their little cousin.

one month old

august 17th- harper is one month old today! we can't believe how fast this month has gone by. she continues to change and grow on a daily basis, and spends much more time during the day awake and alert. we've seen her smile, but have been unable to capture it on film yet. she is now up to 7 pounds, 3 ounces from her doctor's visit last wednesday and though she's still tiny, a few of her clothes are fitting better. we were concerned about acid reflux, but it appears to be mild enough and not in need of any intervention right now.

too good to be true?

the petrous household has been getting some much needed zzz's- sunday night, harper slept for 6 hours straight and last night, it was 7 hours! we are certain this is only short-lived, but we are loving the extra shut eye and counting our blessings while it lasts. here are some of the latest harper photos.

b-squared drops by

harper's first playdate! although she slept most of the time, she got to meet her newest friend and potential future boyfriend, brendan, on saturday. brendan is the son of mommy's college roommate, colleen. brendan was a huge flirt and such a looker! he is such a sweet and adorable little boy. the pair enjoyed some playtime and a long walk in their strollers while the mommies chatted and swapped advice. we can also thank colleen and brendan for giving us the great idea to create a blog for harper.

girls night in

mommy got together at our house with 3 of the 5 girls who meet for monthly dinners (well, at least we try to schedule and meet once a month) wednesday evening. harper got to meet her kappa delta aunties, and sported her "kappa delta legacy" onesie from kathie, though it was a bit big. (colleen and cortney- we missed you and hope to see you at the next dinner!)

harper has been enjoying her walks in the stroller, despite the summer heat! nana went for a walk with harper, maximus and mommy before we went to harper's 2 week check up on wednesday. harper now weighs a hefty 6 pounds, 3.5 ounces! she is healthy and growing every day, and has been staying up for longer periods during the day.

president and first little lady

daddy had to go out of town overnight for work on tuesday, so nana spent the day and night with us and drove us down to papa's office to have lunch with the pres. papa loved sharing his new granddaughter with everyone in the office, and harper seemed to enjoy the presidential office and board room.
